As residents of Muscogee and Harris Counties, we, the undersigned, strongly oppose the effort that is underway to expand the Florida Rock Quarry further into Muscogee County and into Harris County due to the following:
   • Irreparable damage to Historic and residential structures
   • Environmental impact to Heiferhorn Creek, endangered wildlife and plant species
   • Water table levels affecting wells and foundational settling
   • Loss of property values
   • Air and water pollution and its impact to the health of local residents
   • Long term impact to the quarried land & surrounding properties
   • Inconsistency with Harris County's land use plan
We, the undersigned, urge the Muscogee County Planning Commission, Columbus City Council, The Harris County Planning Commission and the Harris County Commissioners to vigorously let your voices be heard opposing such an effort. We strongly oppose this effort to allow Florida Rock to expand its operation in the area surrounding historic Fortson Georgia.
